Surry Hills runs almost entirely on rentals — units lead, with 1,092 leases (down 10%) at $825 a week (up 5.1%) as of July 2026, renting out in about 14 days (down from 17 days last year), one of the country's most in-demand unit rental markets, with more than half being 1-bedroom.

House rentals make up a much smaller share, with 290 leases (down 11.3%) at $1,255 a week (up 14.6%), renting out in about 21 days (up from 19 days last year). Then come 271 unit sales at around $849.5k (down 11.2%), among the country's biggest unit price drops. 126 house sales at around $2.481M.
